Good design is not a just visual decision. It is a way of understanding how a space will be lived in.

Atelier Autran is a Lisbon interior design studio working on homes, boutique hotels, serviced apartments, and hospitality spaces — across Portugal and internationally.
Each project grows from the architecture of the space, the surrounding environment, and the lives of the people who will use it. Stone, wood, light, textiles, the view from a particular window — these things come before the furniture catalogue.

Alice was born in Brazil, raised between Brazil and Europe, and shaped by years living in the United States. Three cultures. Three different ideas of what a home should feel like.
That background produces something specific: a design sensibility that holds warmth and restraint at the same time. Spaces that work well in daily life and still stop you when you walk into them.
She works closely with private clients, architects, and developers — on full design projects and on creative direction engagements where a strong design eye is needed alongside a team already in motion.
-
We lead every project from a creative and strategic standpoint. Concept, materials, spatial planning, furniture and objects, custom elements — all of it is defined with precision before a single purchase is made or a contractor lifts a hammer.
Execution is handled by trusted partners, selected based on the needs and scale of each project. This keeps the design process clean and the creative vision intact — from the first sketch to the final object placed in a room.
We listen before we draw. We source before we specify. We look at how the light moves before we decide anything.

Lisbon is a particular place to work from. The artisan tradition here is exceptional — ceramicists, joiners, stonemasons, textile makers — and largely unknown to clients outside Portugal. We know these people. We use them when a project calls for it.
The studio works internationally. If you are designing a home in Portugal, furnishing a property in Europe, or developing a hospitality space and looking for a design partner with a European base — we would be glad to hear about your project.
